About The Little Free Pantry
The kind folks behind the Remington Community Gardens opened The Little Free Pantry in 2020 as a response to COVID. The Little Free Pantry gives away over 30 pounds of pantry items every single day and is open 365 days of the year, which means that it provides friends in our community with over 10,000 pounds of food annually! In 2021, they designated part of the community garden plots to growing fresh produce to share. The Little Free Veggie Steps, companions to The Little Free Pantry, have already given away over 1,100 pounds of fresh produce this summer alone. With the addition of The Little Free Fridge, this program can now provide virtually any food or toiletry item.

The Purpose of Our Concert: Giving Generously!
Sound House, The Sunstones, and White Wall want to help the kind folks feeding friends in our community! Here’s the deal: We’re going to bring goodies for The Little Free Pantry AND we’re going to put on a FREE concert at the Remington Community Gardens. All you have to do is show up with pantry items from the list below and stick around for a night of good music.
Right now, the program’s biggest needs are:
- Proteins like peanut butter, eggs, and canned meat (tuna, salmon, corned beef, beef stew)
- Healthy kids snacks
- Soups
- Cereal
- Toiletries like soap, shampoo, deodorant, tampons, pads, toilet paper, and toothpaste
They receive plenty of canned corn and green beans, so we’re going to focus on giving items from the list above.
There will be donation bins available at the concert, but keep in mind that you can donate 24/7 by placing non-perishables in the black and red donation bin on the steps of the Remington United Methodist Church neighboring the Community Gardens. Volunteers check that bin every day to make sure pantry items are put out for those in need.
What To Expect
This will be an OUTDOORS event with limited seating. Please bring your own chairs and blankets.
We will not be serving food or drinks, but you’re welcome to bring your own; just keep it family-friendly and clean up thoroughly afterward.
Again, this is a family-friendly event, so remember to be respectful of the people around you and of the Remington Community Gardens facilities.

Event Update
We lit up the night with our Little Free Pantry Benefit Concert featuring White Wall and The Sunstones. Over 120 guests attended and donated so much food that members of the church had to bring over a wagon to help haul it over to the pantry storage space. Remington Community Garden organizers expressed gratitude and relief that the pantry was so fully restocked.
Between our collective outpouring of generosity, the stellar outcome of improvised lighting, literally the best weather possible, two sets of kick-butt songs from two kick-butt bands, and a communal rush of ecstatic movement from an enthusiastic crowd, this night represented everything we’re trying to do here at Sound House. Thanks so much to everyone who contributed to the success of the Little Free Pantry Benefit Concert.
