Thank you for being a part of our community. Because of you all, I am able to provide this safe space for people of all ages and backgrounds to grow through the study of music. It’s an honor to offer my guidance and support and a joy to witness each person’s development here at Sound House.

Upcoming Opportunities

March 10th, 2023 – Teen Meetup
Sound House members ages 13-19 are welcomed to the studio on Friday 3/10, 4:30-6:30 PM for an evening of community-building. Read over the scheduled activities here, and RSVP via email. Eight people have already signed up. This is a free event. 

March 31st, 2023 – Virtual Workshop: Get Gigging

Sound House owner Maddi Mae has performed 550+ shows over the past half decade, all booked and handled independently. On Friday 3/31, 4:30-6:00 PM, she’ll be hosting a virtual workshop to help participants learn to prepare for, book, and perform shows.

This presentation covers open mics, multi-band bills, and solo shows. Learn about building a setlist, preparing an electronic press kit, researching and reaching out to venues, creating stage plots, filling out W-9s, promoting events, and so much more. You’ll be given access to a slideshow dense with information and a complimentary printable worksheet packet. 

Everyone is welcomed to participate in this virtual workshop via Zoom. Please feel free to invite interested colleagues. The cost of participating is $20, to be paid before the workshop (SoundHouseVA.com/Pay). There must be a minimum of five participants signed up beforehand. RSVP via email. 

Attendance Data

January 2023 lessons attendance rate = 88% (129 attended of 147 scheduled)

February 2023 lessons attendance rate = 87% (112 attended of 129 scheduled)

Our goal is to maintain at least a 90% attendance rate for scheduled sessions. For us to do so in February, we would have had to reduce our absences by five sessions. We’re so close to achieving this important objective for the success of Sound House, and I’m hoping we will this month. 

Important Reminders

Payments for the full month are required before the first lesson of the month. Please read the full payment policy here, especially if you’re a newer member of the Sound House community. 

If you’d like me to charge you automatically at the beginning of each month, please speak with me about saving a card on file via Square. A handful of students added their information in February, and it’s working well for them now that I better understand how the system works. 

If you can’t make it to the studio for a session, I offer virtual meetings via Zoom. This is a better alternative than missing the time you’ve reserved all together. To opt for a virtual session, send me an email.
